We’re delighted to share some good news from Zambia. The furniture funded by the Rotary Club of Llanishen for Nsobe Secondary School has arrived, and it’s already being put to good use by pupils and teachers alike.
A project with the Nsobe Development Trust
Nsobe Secondary School is part of Nsobe Schools for the Community in Masaiti, Zambia, supported by the Nsobe Development Trust. The school had a clear need: its computer lab and staff room lacked the furniture to make them properly usable. Rotary Llanishen stepped in to help meet that need.
The school received the following from the supplier:
- 25 computer lab chairs
- 5 computer lab work desks
- 26 staff room chairs
- 3 staff room work station tables
“Thrilled” with the results
Fiona Tomlinson of the Nsobe Development Trust wrote to our member Paul Aynge to confirm the delivery. She told us the school’s secondary computer lab and staff room are now fully equipped, and that teachers and pupils are thrilled with the new furniture.
The photos she sent speak for themselves. In the computer lab, rows of students sit at their new desks working on laptops, while in the staff room, teachers now have proper chairs and large work tables where they can plan lessons, mark work and meet together.
It has been a busy few weeks at Nsobe. Alongside the furniture arriving, the school has been hosting a group of Irish volunteers on a cultural immersion trip, spending two weeks with their Nsobe peers. Fiona described the visit as joyous, and it’s wonderful to see the school so full of activity.
