Introduction from the President

Llanishen Rotary Club celebrates 45 years in October 2023. During those 45 years we have carried out many community projects in North Cardiff and across the world.

The content of this web site outline what the club is currently doing across a wide range of service projects encompassing:

  • activities to help in the development of young people locally;
  • people in the local community requiring support (dementia sufferers and their carers, Cardiff
  • Foodbank, Mencap and Riverbank Special School);
  • community activities internationally (Orbis eye clinics, schools, hospital and hospice in Africa,
  • Polio eradication); and
  • reacting to international crises (Ukrainian refugees, natural disasters).

This maintains a long record of service projects at home and abroad.

Our motto is “Service before Self” so although we do undertake fund raising activities our main objective is to use our time and expertise to support individuals and organisations to achieve more. In doing so we have fun and enjoy the fellowship the Club offers.

There is also a social side to Club activities. We also organise social events such as Christmas in
Llanishen Village, switching on the lights with school choirs and the arrival of Santa, theatre trips and, in the summer, we host a Hog Roast for friends and family.

All these activities and projects require people to organise and implement them and in our 45th year we are looking to increase membership and make the club more diverse. This will help us  maintain and develop our support of the community and others. Please do consider the possibility, you may well enjoy supporting the work we do whilst enjoying being part of a very friendly organisation.

If you live in the area and want to know more about Rotary you are more than welcome to join us at our weekly meetings held at Llanishen Golf Club every Monday at 17:45 for 18:15 (no meetings are held in Bank Holiday weeks).

Alternatively, get in touch with us via our contact form.
