Sunday 10th August 2025 was a resounding success as the Rotary Club of Llanishen’s ‘Pizza on the Farm’ event brought the community together at Mill Farm in Lisvane.
The sun shone brightly as families and friends gathered under colorful marquees adorned with Welsh flags and festive bunting, creating the perfect atmosphere for this unique community celebration.
Wood-Fired Pizza Perfection
The heart of the event was the impressive wood-fired pizza operation, with our enthusiastic chef sporting his “THIS GUY MAKES THE BEST PIZZA” t-shirt working tirelessly at the beautiful blue wood-fired oven. Using long wooden peels to carefully maneuver fresh pizzas from the flames, he kept a steady stream of delicious food coming throughout the afternoon. The sight of pizzas emerging from the glowing oven had guests gathering around in anticipation, while the rustic farm setting provided the perfect backdrop.
Cardiff Ukulele Dragons Steal the Show
The Cardiff Ukulele Dragons provided the perfect musical entertainment, setting up in the farm’s courtyard with their collection of ukuleles, guitars, and other instruments. Known across Cardiff for their infectious enthusiasm and feel-good performances, they delivered exactly what was promised – uplifting music that had people of all ages tapping their feet and singing along to familiar tunes. Their commitment to supporting local causes through music was evident in their obvious pleasure at entertaining the crowd.
Community Spirit at Its Best
Under the festive marquees decorated with Welsh dragons and Union Jack bunting, families settled in for long, leisurely meals. The Rotary Club volunteers worked seamlessly, serving food and drinks while organizing the raffle. Conversations flowed as easily as the drinks from the fully licensed bar, with the genuine sense of community spirit making the day truly special. The Welsh flags fluttering in the gentle breeze seemed to underscore the pride everyone felt in this local event.
