The Rotary Club of Llanishen has once again demonstrated its commitment to tackling food poverty in the city, collecting an impressive 132.2kg of food for the Cardiff Foodbank. The donation, gathered during a collection evening last Wednesday, will provide vital support to 12 local people in need.
As demand on foodbanks continues to grow, contributions like these play a crucial role in keeping shelves stocked for those who rely on them most. In the words of organiser Graeme Page, “This goes a long way in keeping the shelves topped up while the challenges are growing.”
The donation is the latest in a long-standing partnership between the Rotary Clubs and the Cardiff Foodbank. That partnership has also extended beyond food collections — the Rotary Clubs of Cardiff have part-funded a brand-new van for the foodbank, which has now been fitted with full logos and branding. The vehicle will be used to distribute supplies to areas across Cardiff where permanent foodbank centres are not yet established, helping the charity reach even more people in need.
Rachel Gibbs, CEO of the Cardiff Foodbank, and Jodie Jay, Operations Manager, expressed their gratitude, offering “a huge thank you for the marvellous support the Rotary Clubs in Cardiff have given.”
With the cost of living continuing to put pressure on households across the city, the ongoing generosity of community organisations like the Rotary Clubs remains more important than ever.
